How To Make Sure Your Podcast Artwork Is Behaving Itself

There’s an epidemic sweeping across the podcasting community at the moment. I see it with the most professional podcasts as well as the complete newbies.

Missing artwork. 🙂

This is a real pet peeve of mine because it’s like buying a CD with no front cover or sleeve. As a listener I feel ripped off, and for me it undercuts the credibility and authority of the podcast.

Most podcasters think they’ve sorted their artwork by including it in their feed to iTunes – but that’s just the beginning.

Did you know you also need to attach artwork to each .mp3 file you upload to your host? That way when someone downloads your podcast to a portable device (iphone, ipad etc) they get your artwork as well.

Watch the video below to find out how to do this.

Thanks for putting this up. ?How does iTunes find my artwork? Do I have to take the episode that I added artwork to and replace previous version on my website with the new one? I am very new to the tech side of podcasting.

Hi – ok so iTunes finds your artwork through your RSS feed but you still need to attach artwork to each mp3 file so that once downloaded to a users iTunes (and portable device) the artwork will also appear. I talk about some of the technical processes of podcasting in my free report. You can download it now here. All the best — Dan

Your information on podcasting looks awesome! I’ll be grabbing a copy of your course! In my SEO and traffic goodies bag of things I’ve done I’ve yet to venture into podcasting world. I’ve thought about itunes and that marketplace but never went beyond thinking about it. The potential of this stuff is really too much to ignore. You seem to offer some great info and the list of celebrities you’ve helped says allot. Thanks, Craig Wilson

Hi thanks Craig for stopping by! Appreciate the kind words. Yes podcasting can be super powerful for attracting traffic and the iTunes store is really an untapped pipeline.

Let me know if I can help with anything.

All the best
